Prior to race day information
We’ll be sending out regular nutritional tips and training tips to all supporters, along with suggested routes participants can choose to complete on event day should they wish to.
On the day information
We will be encouraging all supporters to take part in their chosen distance on Sunday 10 October however, if you are unable to make this date or aren’t able to complete your chosen distance in 1 go, then you will have the remainder of the week to be able to do so.
Once you’ve completed your run or walk we would love it if you could take a finishers photo and share on your social media platforms with the hashtag #VirtualHerts10K, we will also be creating a finishers gallery on the Herts 10K Facebook page.
If you’d like to be included in our results table please ensure you upload your results via Race Nation.
If you wish to try and get a PB, then we will be having a leader board table, which will be able to be accessed nearer to the event day via your Race Nation account.
Everyone that signs up to the event prior to Tuesday 5 October at 10 am will receive their t-shirt in the post ahead of the start of the event on Sunday 10 October. If you sign up after this date, you will still receive a T-Shirt but unfortunately we cannot guarantee delivery by 10 October.
Anyone is able to sign up to the event (we would ask all those taking part in the Junior Division to have parental consent) and can choose to run or walk their chosen route and distance. If you’re unable to complete the whole of your chosen distance on race day then you will have the duration of the week in order to complete your distance in. We would ask for all participants wishing to be included in our results table that you use a GPS tracker or an app such as Strava to record your results and upload to the results table in order for them to be verified.
This event is now more accessible than ever! Choose your route! It can start from your front down so you can collapse at home once your distance is completed or choose a more scenic route that is a short drive away.
Fancy challenging yourself further? Why not choose a route that involves a high incline, or one that is full of ups and downs.*
If the weather is hot please ensure you take some on your run with you and make sure you stay properly hydrated. This also includes post-race and through the duration of the day. If you are doing the half marathon try and ensure you have drunk 450ml of water within 2 hours prior to the start of the event.
You can encourage friends and family to follow your progress via the RaceNation app, meaning that friends, family and colleagues can still track you on your virtual race from anywhere! You will have the ability to turn tracking off if you wish, as well as securing your tracking via friend codes.
*Your safety is the most important factor, always ensure you feel safe doing your chosen route and make someone aware of where you will be going and the anticipated length of time you should be gone for.
