Prior to race day information
We’ll be sending weekly 5km routes to all that sign up. Each week will be a different route around the Harpenden/ St Albans area, and will include landmarks or points of interest in each route.
On the day information
The event start time will remain the same – 10:00am.
There’ll be a pre-race zoom call, which will include a warm up and be an opportunity for you to get warmed up and wish other runners good luck.
Once you’ve completed your run or walk we would love it if you could take a finishers photo and share on your social media platforms with the hashtag #VirtualHerts10K, we will also be creating a finishers gallery on the Herts 10K Facebook page
If you’d like to be included in our results table please ensure you upload your results via Race Nation.
If you’ve taken part in either the 10k or the half marathon, you can find leader boards here.
Race packs will be emailed out 2 weeks prior to the race date. The t-shirts will be distributed separately to the race packs.
Anyone is able to sign up to the event (we would ask all those taking part in the Junior Division to have parental consent) and can choose to run or walk their chosen route and distance. If you’re unable to complete the whole of your chosen distance on race day then you will have the duration of the week in order to complete your distance in. We would ask for all participants wishing to be included in our results table that you use a GPS tracker or an app such as Strava to record your results and upload to the results table with in order for them to be verified.
This event is now more accessible than ever! Choose your route! It can start from your front down so you can collapse at home once your distance is completed or (under government guidance) choose a more scenic route that is a short drive away.
Fancy challenging yourself further? Why not choose a route that involves a high incline, or one that is full or ups and downs.*
If the weather is hot please ensure you take some on your run with you and make sure you stay properly hydrated. This also includes post-race and through the duration of the day. If you are doing the half marathon try and ensure you have drank 450ml of water within 2 hours prior to the start of the event.
You can encourage friends and family to follow your progress via the RaceNation app, meaning that self-isolating friends, family and colleagues can still track you on your virtual race! You will have the ability to turn tracking off if you wish, as well as securing your tracking via friend codes.
Many thanks for all your support and we look forward to seeing you on race day.
*Your safety is the most important factor, always ensure you feel safe doing your chosen route and make someone aware of where you will be going and the anticipated length of time you should be gone for.
